Mrs Woolly’s General Store is part of The Headwaters, a sustainable hospitality business in New Zealand’s beautiful rural township of Glenorchy.  Our general store sits at the head of Lake Wakatipu and is the gateway to stunning hiking tracks, watersports, biking and fishing opportunities, as well as quiet areas to reflect in nature. Many think this area is the most beautiful landscape in New Zealand.

Mrs Woolly’s General Store provides locals as well as visitors with high quality groceries, baked goods, basic household items and beautiful clothing and gifts. In addition, Mrs Woolly’s Kitchen also prepares a wide range of delicious house-made takeaway food for customers and we are getting ready to launch our new mobile food trailer and out-catering services.

Our general store is directly adjacent to Mrs Woolly’s Campground and the newly-constructed Camp Glenorchy, NZ’s first Net Zero energy visitor accommodations. All profits from The Headwaters’ businesses—including Mrs Woolly’s General Store—benefit the local community through the Glenorchy Community Trust.

The Grocery Supervisor will be responsible for keeping our groceries fully stocked, seeking customer input, creating appealing displays and continuing to build our selection of beautiful NZ foods for locals and for visitors.  The position will help us better serve our customers and support our store staff at Mrs Woolly’s.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, qualified, full-time Grocery Supervisor who has:

• Deep enthusiasm for sourcing, buying and stocking delicious, healthy food and ingredients
• Connections in and knowledge of the grocery, wholesale and food distribution sector in the greater Queenstown area
• Genuine passion for and experience with customer service
• A “Count on Me” approach to teamwork and getting things done
• Natural organizational skills, attention to detail and a desire to achieve excellent results
• Enthusiasm for our customer’s culinary experience and a high standard of customer service
• Excellent, proactive communication skills
• Ability to keep accurate records for orders placed, goods received and invoicing
• Flexibility with working hours, an ability to responding to customer needs and an ability to “roll” with the natural fluidity of a start-up business
• New Zealand Residency or is a holder of a current New Zealand Work Visa.

Mrs Woolly’s Kitchen Catering - Chef

Mrs Woolly’s Kitchen is part of The Headwaters business, a new concept in hospitality and retail that seeks to serve as an example of sustainable tourism.

Mrs Woolly’s Kitchen provides food service to Camp Glenorchy, Mrs Woolly’s General Store, our mobile food trailer, and out-catering. 

The Headwaters features Mrs Woolly’s General Store and the newly built Net Zero energy Camp Glenorchy which is located in the beautiful rural community of Glenorchy, a 45-minute drive north of Queenstown. Mrs Woolly’s General Store offers a wide range of fresh, healthy takeaway food, as well as a curated selection of groceries, gifts and outdoor gear. All profits from The Headwaters benefit the local community through the Glenorchy Community Trust.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative full-time Chef who has:

• Passion for delivering delicious, beautiful, healthy food, every day
• Natural organizational skills and a desire to achieve excellent results
• Enthusiasm for the customer’s culinary experience and a high standard of customer service
• At least 4 years experience with large group catering and functions
• Excellent communication skills
• Attention to detail
• High standards of food hygiene and familiarity with using MPI Food Control Plan March 2017
• Ability to keep accurate records for goods received and invoicing
• Flexibility with working hours, last-minute requests and responding to customer needs and an ability to “roll” with the natural fluidity of a start-up business
• New Zealand Residency or is a holder of a current New Zealand Work Visa.

Retail Salesperson 

We are seeking an energetic, friendly, customer service-oriented Retail Salesperson for Mrs Woolly’s General Store in Glenorchy. Mrs Woolly’s General Store sells a wide range of beautiful specialty gifts, unique clothing, basic housewares and fresh, healthy to-go foods.

Camp Glenorchy, currently under construction in the picturesque township of Glenorchy adjacent to Mrs Woolly’s General Store, includes modern bunk cabins, a community kitchen and amenities building.

We are offering a permanent contract with variable hours subject to operational and seasonal requirements, 25-40 hours per week. Well-appointed staff accommodation may be available in Glenorchy.

Applicants need to meet the following requirements:

* Minimum 1 year experience in retail sales and merchandising

* Second language an advantage

* Passion for delivering excellent customer service

* Appreciation for beautiful high quality products

* Hands-on, hardworking approach and a “can do” attitude

* Able to prioritise and show initiative

* Legally able to work in NZ
