Our facilities are designed, built, and operated under the philosophy of the Living Building Challenge, the most advanced environmental building design certification in the world. Camp Glenorchy will use up to 50% less energy and water than similar facilities.
Energy-efficient LED lights and technologies are used indoors and out. Energy drawn from the South Island’s largest solar garden powers the buildings at Camp Glenorchy.
To reduce demand for water, underground tanks collect rainwater for re-use. Wastewater from sinks, showers, tubs and washing machines is treated on-site using natural systems.
